HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM (DIY, LOW BUDGET TRAVEL)

Last March 24 2019, I together with my pharmacist friend decided to have an indochina trip. As for itinerary we then jot down vietnam as our starting point. Why vietnam? Oh, why not Vietnam! Today, I am going to share to you our travel to the city of Ho Chi Minh in the country Vietnam.

Flew to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam from Manila, Philippines is about 2 hours. And from Davao (since taga Davao ko) to Manila is also about 2hours. Yes, kahibaw ko unsa sunod na question. Tagpila and ticket per way. I want to be transparent and honest, mahal among nakuha nga ticket davao-manila because we booked it after we booked all necessary ticket for the Indochina that includes Cambodia to Thailand, Thailand to Philippines. So from Davao to Manila is around 2,018.00 php. But I would say, Manila to Ho Chi Minh is cheaper because it is only 2,819.00 php. YES PROMO!

From airport it was about 45mins ride to our hostel. Grab fare 500 php. We stayed at Vy Da Backpackers Hotel 296.00php per night dorm type.

MARCH 25, 2019 scheduled as a whole day tour around Ho Chi Minh, City. Lucky are we since our hostel a just walking distance (kung anad ka sige’g baklay or willing ka mobaklay) to tourist spot.

We had our lunch at the famous Lunch Lady, a small restaurant but jam-packed with customers because of its delicious menu everyday

We continue our tourist-y thing by walking to the Ho Chi Minh City, City Hall. Catch the sunset and then went to Bentanh Market for pasalubong.

We had our dinner at Bentanh Food Market.

Okaaay, we are BUDGET TRAVELLER. we simplified that by means sa isa ka adlaw, once rami mo kaon ug with rice. Wala pa mi nagdiet ana. So in the morning, nearby minimart we grab tubig, kape ug pan. Gasto mga around 50.00 php. Lunch at the lunch lady cost us about 70.00-100.00php each. Dinner at Bentanh food market 100.00-150.00php.

Literal, 1 whole day tour to Ho Chi Minh City. And it was all worth it. Being able to explore the wonderful city even in a short period of time is one for the records and I will always be thankful of.

TO MY OTHER SELF

Around of applause to you as you have done so much for the past year which made me who I am today. You hit rock bottom but you were able to surmount all those mountain high expectations. Your bravery flabbergasted me. And I thank you for that.

Thank you for the couple of times of not giving up. For the moments I feel like I am lost and out of control. For those days I feel like I am not myself. You are my own superhero.

Perhaps, these past few days you were in a state of vagueness. You have to juggle life’s tribulations and deliverance. Know that I am aware. Know that I am working with it. Know that I won’t give up. Know that I will stand still.

For the succeeding days, for the days that are yet to come —- I hope for nothing but the best. You are a one unique butterfly. Do not be scared of spreading your colorful wings. Fly freely. Be confident in your ways.

When the sun rise, you are given new set of opportunities, another obstacles to conquer. And when the sun set, always bear in your mind —- You are worthy! You are worthy for EVERYTHING the world has to offer. And you do not need others to validate you for that.

May this year be full of joy and excitement, of contentment, of love, of peace, of dreams coming true. And I declare these, through the mighty name of Jesus.

TO WAIT IS TIME CONSUMING BUT RESULTS ARE WORTH WAITING

“Ayaw pag dali kay ang baliktad sa dali – ilad. Ug kung mailad raba, sakit sa buot. Maot ang result.”

For a while ma’am.

For a while sir.

Waiting time is about 15minutes. Willing to wait?

Oh, about an hour? still willing to wait?

How about if it takes a year — or two or…..?

STILL WILLING TO WAIT?

No problem? or No thanks?

Living life in general requires waiting. However, we are always in a hurry. We want to rush things. We want instant. We want to have results in a snap of a finger. We withdraw to the situations that are at first not favorable. Ladies and Gentlemen, life is not like that.

When your mother is in the delivery room begins to labor to give birth to a baby —- you wait. When your father is cooking for your favorite meal —- you wait. When you have to catch a pedicab or a jeepney or a grab car (wow sosyal) to go to certain places —- you wait. Same goes for a caterpillar to become a butterfly. Also for a seed planted until it fully grows as a mature plant. All takes time. All requires waiting. All are beautiful results.

I remember during a homily the priest told “God’s answer to our queries were only three (3). Yes. No. Wait.”

God Himself, invites us to wait. Through this invitation we are reminded to remain faithful to Him while waiting. and even if we are not expecting for something (be faithful to God)

You see how beautiful is the idea of waiting but you know what is even more beautiful? it is when what you waited falls in God’s perfect timing.

now, let me ask you again…WILLING TO WAIT? No problem or no thanks?

Xoxo,

Yanie❤️✨

20 FOR 2020

At the beginning of the year you start writing or searching or even reading blogs like this to maybe inspire you to do things you failed to do last year.

Well, do not worry, you are not alone. Kay miskan ako sa sugod sa tuig, I try to motivate myself by writing it in a piece of paper.

If others can do, why can’t I?

I know what’s on your mind. Perhaps, excited? because I do. Hoping that this year is gonna be a one good year.

Now, hear my words. Here are 20 for 2020.

  1. DECLUTTER YOUR BELONGINGS. Start the year right by decluttering all your stuff. Do not limit it to clothes my friend. ALL YOUR BELONGINGS! Yes, including that pens you bought just because its cute. That white sneakers you are no longer using. Or your favorite high school bag still being hanged at the back of your door. And oh, your exes presents (just in case you don’t want to brings memories to this fresh year) AH BASTA LARAS TANANG BUTANG DECLUTTER!
  2. DECLUTTERED BELONGING SHOULD BE GIVEN AWAY.
The best way to dispose your things that are still useful is to give them away to people. Okay. I get you, you can’t let go? it’s hard, right? but come to think and ask yourself. Am I still using it? if your answer is No. THEN LET IT GO! Oh sentimental values? well, if you’re now letting go a number of your favorite stuff just think that someone will be happy having it. You might not know, those are the things they need the most. Your favorite dress could be someones favorite too. My mama used to say “Ang sige ug tago ug gamit kay kawatan.” And we don’t want to be called kawatan. Right?
  1. SAVE THAT PHONE MEMORY SPACE Delete that already watched movies and apps you are not using or simply that app that always wanna have a portion of your salary. You are not just saving money, you are saving you phone memory as well. Also, you can import your photos and videos to you laptop with an album title 2019. That’s a great idea.
  1. OPERATION SOCIAL MEDIA CLEAN UP. By this I mean to say, unfriend/unfollow those “unnecessary” people. Limit your social media platform to people you know very well. Promise, there is less toxicity. or no toxicity at all.
  2. LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE. ni hao, anyeonghaseyo, hello, bonjour, adios, sayonara, kumusta ka or whatever learn a new language. It’s hard, at first but don’t give up! You go girl! You go multilingual at the end of the year. Don’t you love that?
  3. INVEST. I’m not joking! The clock is ticking. Invest something that will assure you in the future. Allocate your money properly. As time goes by things become expensive. I get it when you say you’re still young but why not invest why you are still young?
  4. DRINK YOUR VITAMIN. One thing to preserve your youthfulness is to drink your vitamins. Vitamin E for your skin, Vitamin C for immunity, Multivitamins and more there’s so much available over the counter in the market. This is also for our older selves. Yes I got you again self!
  5. EXERCISE YOUR BODY. Another year another set of planks, crunches, lunges, cardio and more. Another broken promise of going to the gym or doing workout? Hell no! No more excuse this year please. Just 5-10minutes of exercise 2 to 3 times a week. Start now!
  6. LEARN TO PLAY MUSICAL INSTRUMENT. Strum that guitar, play that piano —- anything that creates music. Go! Give yourself a try. Do not worry as you have youtube to help you out. Or a certain friend who can teach you. It maybe hard at first but remember the famous quote? Practice makes perfect.
  7. WAKE UP EARLY. Wake up earlier before the sun rose. Swear, the earlier you wake up the more motivated you are the more errands you can do for a day. It makes all the past days different.
  8. READ BOOKS. Whether it’s fantasy or horror or something like you are a detective finding the one who is responsible for the crime — READ BOOKS! You will become a wide reader you will become a lot wiser. As it will enhance your not just your thinking capacity but so is your choice of words. Flip those pages. There’s so many books you could choose from.
  9. GO TO CHURCH. Of all the things you have, do not forget God. You are asked an hour for God, spare Him your time. He deserves that. Talk to Him. Dedicate this year for transfiguration.
  10. READ A BIBLE. Have time to read your bible. I’m giving you now an idea: have 1 verse a day and write it in your notebook. By that we became more familiar about our creator. the more we move closer to Him.
  11. STOP PROCRASTINATING. What’s more fulfilling than meeting all your requirement ahead the deadline? It will give you a lot more time to do other errands. A whole lot different. You ain’t Juan Tamad right? and UNYA NA is not good. No procrastination 2020.
  12. LEARN TO REST BUT DON’T QUIT. Its a brand new year hold of the quitter in you. Pause to discern to make progress. DO NOT QUIT. Little by little you’ll arrive on your destination.
  13. ALWAYS BE KIND. In the world full of bullies choose to be kind. Avoid the use of bulgar words that could offend other. And even if they are not kind to you always always BE KIND. Kill ’em with kindess. Ganern!
  14. SKIN CARE ROUTINE. Do not let those dirt cling unto your skin the whole day. Please. The skin is the biggest organ of your body and it serves as protection take care of it. Have a routine to pamper your skin. May it be natural or with chemical (but choose chemical that are proven not harsh), use it. but better we go for all natural.
  15. CATCH UP WITH FAMILY AND GOOD FRIENDS. The world is so sickening that we forgot to spend time for those people who are dear to us. With the advent of technology, we detach ourselves to reality that we have family around us. get rid social media and have dinner at home or watch t.v together, sing-a-long. Reconnect to the lost moments. The conservations are serious, laughters are genuine. Jokes are just joke. Well, just pure contentment with your loved ones.
  16. SAVE MONEY. Forget all those online shopping 50% off, buy 1 dozen take 1 dozen donuts or milk tea or that seat-sale tempting you. Save money for rainy days. Save money for your future. BASTA AYAW SEG GASTO.
  17. BE YOURSELF. In everything you do, just be yourself. This will make you comfortable and free. No time for self doubt. Speak what’s in your heart.

There you go! Let us all challenge ourselves to strive for the better and to make progress. Believe that with dedication there is victory. Know that you are not alone in this journey. God is with us always. And with Him we will all be triumphant.

Here are my 20 for 2020!

Hear my words, please. 😘

Yanie

Beautiful Sunrise — I shall not despise

“Another Sunrise, Another New Beginnings”

Jonathan Lockwood Huie

Jump off the bed, run to the shore
There I saw — a Sunrise, I love to adore
Though you’re no longer a surprise
Since everyday I saw you rise, Beautiful sunrise, you, I shall not despise.

Smiling while I look,
It’s like you and me talk.
You encourages me to keep going
Like your rays that keep shining

The opportunities you brought
Come with risks I never thought
However just by looking at you, It gives me reasons to start new

Beautiful sunrise, you I shall not despise. You thought me to be wise. You made me appreciative. You made my mind even more creative.

And I will always thankful to God for letting me see you.

Being a Pharmacist

I actually do not know how to start this. Should I start by answering the question “why I study pharmacy?” or I think it is formal if I start by introducing myself.

Hi, my name is Lourd Marianne Tecson Mahinay and being a pharmacist is not my choice.

“I wan’t to be a flight stewardess” I always remember my 5 years old self. Right then I knew I love travelling and being a flight stewardess will help me fulfill that. Until…nidako na ang 5 years old kid ug 5 flat ra tawon iyang height. She can’t be a flight stewardess.

High school. “I want to be a nurse. I want to become my Kuya Roy. I want to work abroad and earn money.” For some reason (reasons I can not open up) Wala nagnursing si Inday.

Exactly 2 months before college starts. I saw myself entering the PL Hall of SPC about to take an entrance exam for Pharmacy. I know nothing about pharmacy except MAMALIGYA RAG TAMBAL. Funny but it’s true. But what pushed me even more to take pharmacy is the idea NGA WALAY MATH ANG PHARMACY (dakong scam mga beshbesh)

4 year of truly ups and downs, katawa ug kaguol —- eventually, I fell in love with pharmacy. Bisan ug tuod daghan kaayong pasakit. May 2017, I graduated pharmacy. And on the same year, I passed the board exam. Pharmacist na siya siszt!

Now, I’m working for more than 2 years as a hospital pharmacist. Already reflected about mamaligya rag tambal. Contented to what I become. Aware that being a pharmacist entails a wider range of responsibility. Being a pharmacist is a one noble job. Being a pharmacist is more than just the mamaligya ug tambal. We always make sure to dispense the right medication, counsel —- a lot more. And yes, tinood ang chismis nga hawod jud mig label. (charaught haha)

This is me writing, for you guys, even if the road says no at first doesn’t mean you won’t find another route. You will be redirected. Just don’t give up.

As for my case, I want to be a flight stewardess. I want to be a nurse. Yet it doesn’t happened. I became a pharmacist. And being a pharmacist is not my choice. Whose choice? it is God’s choice. It is His will because He knows what is best for me. HE KNOWS WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU. FOR ALL OF US. Trust Him. Do your thing and He will do the rest.

❤️,

Yanie
